MAINTAINING SAFETY wITH CARGO BIKES

Coach Rosa’s lessons are coaching-based and do not include physical lifting of riders. For safety reasons, riders must be able to ride independently and get themselves up from a fall, or have a support person present who can assist them. Coach Rosa is unable to safely lift riders over approximately 130 pounds.

What you Will Learn in Your Cargo Bike Training Session

Cargo bikes handle differently than regular bikes, especially once you add children. The adult is always the one operating the bike, and kids ride as passengers in the front box, on back seats, or wherever your cargo bike is designed to carry them. Coach Rosa’s classes walk you through how to load and secure your kids, how to keep them safe, and even how to transport groceries without losing balance or control. In these family cargo bike classes, you’ll learn how to:

  • Start, stop, and turn smoothly with kids on board
  • Balance extra weight while staying relaxed and in control
  • Safe routes and directions to navigate your daily commute
  • Mount and dismount safely with children in seats or cargo areas
  • Communicate with your kids so they know what to expect during the ride

These sessions are perfect for parents and caregivers who want to practice cargo bike riding with kids in a calm, supportive environment before doing it alone.
